2015 Global Theme: Make it Happen
The year's theme is Make it Happen encouaraging effective action for advancing and recognising women
The theme envisions a world where each woman and girl is able to make her own choices, whether it be participating in politics, getting an education, having an income, and living in societies free from violence.
IWD is a time to reflect on progress we have made together, call for change and action, and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by women who have played an outstanding role in creating and uplifting their communities.
You can support IWD online by using your voice via social media. You may use the hashtags #MakeItHappen #womensday #IWD2015 #internationalwomensday.
Many events are held worldwide during the week of and day of March 8. Seminars, breakfasts, lunches, conferences and forums and much more will be taking place, so be sure to check some out. We Can BC's International Women's Day Acclamation:
We encourage everyone to celebrate IWD in 2015 in any way you can. As part of the celebration, We Can BC invites you to join us in spirit by shouting out our pride and our rights. Sometime during the day of March 8, whether you are home, work or with your friends say:
WOMEN say: I am a woman, proud of my accomplishments. Women’s right are human rights.
For the Men who support us we encourage them to stand up and shout
I am proud of the women in my life and their accomplishments. Women’s rights are human rights.
